Using wood as a primary material, students create a wearable object (extension, device, appendage . . .) that drastically alters their appearance, movement, or overall presence.
Students begin this project by creating a multi-headed ceramic bust using plaster bandage cast of their head. Students transform this bust by incorporating metal, wood, found object, etc.
For this project students integrate two separate elements; a skeleton or frame (armature), and a skin, covering or lining that covers or lines all or part of the initial frame. Students are challenged to construct their armature from welded metal rod and carefully select media for the interior or exterior covering or lining.
